Well, the waiting is over – we’ve finally announced the relaunch of Call of Pripyat: Redux!
We chose Wormwood as the name of the mod for a number of reasons –
It’s the translation of ‘Chernobyl’ (Chornobyl), it’s the name of the Red Forest, and it holds biblical/deep rooted connotations of poison and sickness;
“The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water — the name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.”
We hope you think the name as suitable as we do!
It’s a great feeling to see the months of hard work spent on the relaunch coming together for everyone to see, and the reactions have been great so far.
We’ve ranked in the Top 5 mods on ModDB for 90% of our time since the announcement (currently sitting at Rank 3!), and as Wormwood Week continues we hope to keep our place there!
So far, we’ve announced a Developer Q + A, revealed an overhaul of the way radiation works in the game, and released a bunch of new media – but that’s just the first three days! Today, Day 4, we’ll be announcing another large new feature, so keep an eye on the ModDB page!
Now begins the long process of updating my portfolio site – great timing, seeing as I’ve just applied to the Ubisoft Graduate Programme!…
See you later for Day 4 of Wormwood Week!
