Redux Dev Log 04/07/2013

The first part of today was spent getting my working dev-version of the mod onto our team SVN repository – it’s been a while since I did it last and I’d been meaning to for days, but kept forgetting.
Not hugely interesting, but important – backups are vital, people!

The rest of the day has been spent mucking around with corpses.

 

 

Yeah, I’ll clarify.

 

Remember these guys, from Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky?

Well, you may have noticed that inĀ Call of Pripyat, these guys are nowhere to be found. I don’t know about you, but for me they added a lot of atmosphere, immersion, and made the Zone feel much more deadly.

So, we’re bringing them back in Redux v2.0!

If you’ve paid attention to our media releases, you may have already seen these guys occasionally – up ’till now, we’ve been using the same low-resolution-textured SoC versions of these bodies.

What I’ve been doing today is re-assigning textures to these models, to bring them up to CoP standard!

As well as this, I’m vastly increasing the variety of these models – where before there were only Loner, Monolith, Military and Spetsnaz versions, there will now be Loner, Monolith, Military, Spetsnaz, Duty, Freedom and Mercenary variants!

We’re aiming for at least two skins for each faction, for each model, meaning there’ll be a huge variety of corpses to find in Redux v2.0!

Finally, we’re going to try and tell little stories with these bodies, making them ‘belong’ in the world.
